The Statue of Unity is the world’s tallest statue dedicated to one of great freedom fighter of India i.e. Shri Vallabhbhai Patel. The height of this monument is 182 meters and located on the sadhu bet island on the Narmada facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam in the Kevadia village of Gujarat. Previously, the world’s tallest statue was located in China name as Spring Temple Buddha and the height of that statue was 153 mtr. The statue of unity reminds us of one of the great founding fathers of our country Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as Iron man of India. The iron man of India was the first deputy prime minister of Independent Bharat and played a great role in the unification of India. In addition to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, this statue also reminds us of the struggle of all the individuals of the nation participated in getting the freedom. It inspires us to add the visionary ideologies of Iron man of India i.e. Unity in Nation, Patriotism towards Country, Inclusive growth and Good Governance.
The construction of State of Unity was started in the year 2013 and completed in October 2018. It was inaugurated by the honourable prime minister of India on 31st October 2018, the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
As mentioned above, the statue of unity is more than a memorial and it is located in the Kevadia village of Gujarat. Gujarat is the perhaps the one of the most significant tourist station & it is about 100 km away from Vadodara, 200 km from the Ahmedabad & 420 km from the Mumbai. The nearest landmark of this statue is the Sardar Sarovar Dam (Narmada Dam) and to reach there, you need to reach Kevadia in the Narmada district and the statue is only 3.5 km from there. The nearest railway station & airport is located in Vadodara. You can either hire a cab or public buses to reach the statue of unity from Vadodara.
There is good news for the visitors as well. Very soon, a new railway station is going to build in the Kevadia village and then it would become very easy to reach the statue of unity. Central Government has already given their nod for this project.
There is no direct bus in between Delhi & Vadodara (Gujarat) so train & flights are the good options to reach there. Hire a taxi, cab or busses at Vadodara to reach the statue of unity.
Vadodara is very well connected from Delhi via Train & it is approximately 90 km away from the statue of unity. There are many trains operating between these two stations.
Vadodara Airport is approximately 90 km from Sardar Sarovar Dam is the nearest airport. The major operators in between Delhi & Vadodara are Indigo & Air India.
The accommodation facilities are developed in the vicinity of Statue of unity for the better experience of tourists. A 3-star hotel (Shrestha Bharat Bhavan) with all modern amenities, cafeteria & conference facilities are built in the adjacent the statue of unity. For the better experience of tourists, apart from this hotel, more than 250 tents are built in the wide-open area for the unforgeable experience of a quiet night under the stars on the banks of Narmada. The complete site is eco-friendly as the facility is powered by solar energy.
